With its long days and high temperatures, summer is the time of fresh air with beaches, camping, barbecues, picnics, gardening, and pretty much everything else on the outdoor spectrum. Summer is the prime time for the outdoors, but with it, the summertime also brings out the not so pleasant side of Mother Nature with the unbearable heat and humidity, pesky mosquitoes and buzzing bees. To truly enjoy the everyday outdoor aspect of this time of year, your outdoor space should be designed to defend itself against the heat and bugs of summer all the while offering the aesthetically pleasing views and comfort of the season.
With the word “summer,” hot comes immediately to mind. On the hottest days of summer, however, the unbearable heat could become ever so slightly bearable with the addition of a ceiling fan. If not a fan to beat the heat, a canopy could also offer some shade to cool down. And in order to deal with the patrolling pests of the buzzing bees and biting mosquitoes waiting to attack the moment you step outside, porch screen panels are a smart addition to protect your outdoor retreat.
On top of the defensive measures, an outdoor space can always be enhanced with a few decorations, plants, furniture, and lights. A vertical garden of flowers, herbs, berries or veggies or even some trees would add an eco friendly aspect to your space all the while adding to the beauty of it. Decorative fountains and lights can always add to the beauty of the place. You can set the mood with some outdoor lighting allowing for lots more fun throughout the night.
There’s still plenty of summer to enjoy and all that begins with the perfect outdoor space. So pull out the patio furniture, refurbish the floors and add some lights. The attempt at an outdoor oasis never did any harm. With just a few simple upgrades, even the simplest outdoor space can turn into a backyard retreat.
